Dr. Saleha Al-Mardeai
I bring a unique combination of academic depth and hands-on industrial experience to my work in Chemical Engineering. I hold a dual PhD in Chemical Engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium and the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), UAE. I have been the driving force behind several patented technologies that are transforming sustainable manufacturing in the region.
Over the past decade, I have worked across a range of technical areas, including bioenergy, membrane technology, microalgae valorization, and product development. My work is driven by impact, turning complex scientific innovation into real-world, scalable industrial solutions. One of my most significant contributions has been leading the design and commercialization of a patented radial-flow membrane bioreactor that enhances enzymatic cellulose hydrolysis. I have also led major engineering projects targeting decarbonization, clean energy, and sustainable product pipelines.
To date, I’ve been granted four patents, two of which have reached pilot-scale application. I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with major industry stakeholders across the UAE, developing technologies such as algae-derived biocement, clean drilling fluid alternatives, and eco-conscious personal care products. These experiences have helped position me at the intersection of energy and biotechnology, where innovation meets environmental responsibility.
Beyond research and product development, I have led complex, multi-stakeholder industrial projects, directed advanced biochemical process facilities, and mentored diverse technical teams, consistently delivering results that meet both scientific rigor and commercial demand. My work has been published in leading journals and presented internationally, reflecting my ongoing commitments to advancing the fields of chemical engineering and environmental innovation.
In 2025, I was honoured to receive the UAEU Chancellor Innovation Award and the Sharjah Sustainability Award, recognitions as that reflect the practical and forward-thinking nature of my work. Today, at Eyanic, I am focused on helping clients tackle complex engineering challenges, develop breakthrough products, and align sustainability with long-term growth and profitability.
